Opening Reception: Saturday, June 5th 6 PM to 9 PM
Art Fair and Closing Reception: Sunday, June 13th Noon - 4 pm

Gallery 203 is proud to present abstract paintings by Matt Key. Exhibited are recent paintings from three series: Allium & Parsimony, I-10 West, and D.U.M.B.O.; in which Matt explores passageways and the spaces around them through abstracted imagery inspired during his travels. A sense of emergence from earthly bounds traverses his work and is especially apparent through his use of abstracted plant forms in Allium & Parsimony. In the repetition of form a personal lexicon has emerged for exploring horizontal and vertical planes and how they meet. The architectonics of nature are re-envisioned in the fluidity of paint and Matt’s studied approach to the meeting of places and spaces, suggesting an emergence from earthly to ethereal planes.
